Privacy Policy
Short version: Your YouTube data passes through our server only long enough to build your ZIP file. We don't store it, log it, or share it. Your session is cleared when you disconnect.
Who We Are
ChannelBackup is built by VARØ Industries in partnership with The New Janky Workshop. Questions: shop.thenewjankyworkshop.com/pages/contact
What We Collect and Why
When you use ChannelBackup:
- Session cookie: An encrypted, server-side session stores your Google OAuth access token temporarily — only for the duration of your visit. It expires after 2 hours or when you click Disconnect.
- YouTube data: We fetch your channel metadata, video list, and playlists from YouTube's API to build your ZIP. This data is never written to disk or a database on our server. It flows through memory and directly to your download.
- Server logs: Standard web server logs may record your IP address, request paths, and timestamps. These are not linked to your Google identity and are not shared.
We do not collect: names, email addresses, payment info, location data, or any persistent user profile.
Google OAuth and YouTube API
We use Google's OAuth 2.0 to authenticate you. We request only the youtube.readonly scope — read-only access to your YouTube channel data. We cannot post, edit, delete, or modify anything on your channel.
By using ChannelBackup, you also agree to:
You can revoke ChannelBackup's access at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Data Retention
No YouTube data is retained. When you click Disconnect (or your session expires), your session is cleared from our server. Your backup ZIP exists only on your computer.
Third-Party Services
- Google APIs — YouTube Data API v3 for fetching your channel data.
- Coolify / hosting provider — Server infrastructure. Standard server-side logs may apply.
Children's Privacy
ChannelBackup is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
